They say the word predates the tango dance and by the year 1803 contained in the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy tángano as a variant of a bone or stone that was used for the game of the name.
But in 1889 the rules of the language institution included a second meaning of tango as "party and dance of black people and people in America." However, almost 100 years had to pass for the dictionary to define the tango as "dance Argentine couple bound, binary musical form and rhythm of two by four, spread internationally."
Other music scholars argue that the word citizen is himself of African languages that came with slaves to Rio de la Plata and whose meaning would be "enclosed".
Tango is likely to be a voice of Portuguese origin introduced into the New World through the Afro-Portuguese creole dialect. Comparing tango and dairy, Matamoro Blas says both are onomatopoeia of the tam-tam or candombe dances used in black.
Moreover, the expression muzzle dialect was "Touch tango" or "play Tambo" (plays the drums) to start dancing. The venue of the slaves, both in Africa and in Latin, was called tango.
So named Buenos Aires to the houses of the suburbs where, in the early nineteenth century, blacks were dancing and temporarily forget their condition.
Of uncertain date and origin even more uncertain, there are theories that refer to other black roots that ensure its immigrant origin. The truth is that in the mid-1800s, known tenements of the thriving city of Buenos Aires were filled with civilians inside, "gringos" fresh off the boat and several locals of few resources, perhaps to differentiate or to generate roots, marked with momentum own new popular expressions.
Mixed closed and language codes particular germinated in tango dance halls, skirted the Riachuelo, the clubs of carters and cuarteadores, the tenements of the south. In those years, many of the immigrants came alone and the few women who came were in schools or in brothels.
The Buenos Aires-'80s gradually discovered in the academies and theaters. In comedies, operettas and other works, the actors began to sing and dance tango .
The academies, also called peringundines, worked only with permission in the suburbs or neighborhoods distant from downtown and, although at first were only for men, then women hired to dance incorporated.
